A fine quality antique Georgian mahogany bachelor’s chest of drawers. Constructed from solid mahogany with attractive figuring and good colour throughout, this elegant piece features a brushing slide above four graduated drawers. The drawers have brass swan neck handles and escutcheons and run smoothly. The brushing slide provides a practical writing or dressing surface, typical of Georgian bachelor’s chests. Raised on shaped bracket feet, the chest has pleasing proportions and a warm, rich patina developed over many years. A versatile and practical piece, ideal for use in a bedroom, hallway, or living space.

This piece is in good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its period and use. The mahogany has a good colour and patina with some minor surface marks, light scratches, and small areas of wear as would be expected from a genuine Georgian piece. There is some historic wear to the top and brushing slide surface from use. The sides show minor marks consistent with age. All drawers run well and are structurally sound. The handles appear to be original and are secure. The brushing slide operates as it should. The chest is solid and sturdy with no major structural issues. There may be small historic repairs, shrinkage, and minor imperfections typical of furniture of this age. Overall, this is a well-presented, attractive, and practical period chest ready for use.
