An attractive antique French style painted salon sofa with a shaped double-back frame and sweeping upholstered arms. The frame is carved with fluted detail to the arm supports and stands on tapering fluted legs with working castors. Finished in an aged off-white paint, now worn in places to reveal the natural timber beneath, particularly along the top rail, arms and sides. The sofa is upholstered in a pale cream fabric with a small pink floral motif arranged within a fine green lattice pattern, finished with matching pink and cream braided trim. The seat is well sprung and the sofa has a pleasing, well-balanced silhouette.

Overall in good antique condition. There is wear and loss to the painted finish throughout, with the natural frame showing through in places, particularly to the top rail, arms and sides. The upholstery is generally clean, with some fading and discolouration to the arms and other areas consistent with age and use. There is a small age-related split to the frame near one arm, as photographed. The sofa remains well sprung, structurally solid and sound, and the castors are working.
