A superb antique Welsh oak deuddarn cupboard of substantial proportions, dating from the 18th century. This impressive piece is constructed in two sections and displays the traditional form associated with Welsh vernacular furniture. The upper section is fitted with three panelled cupboard doors opening to reveal shelved interiors to each side, with an arrangement of small internal drawers to the centre cupboard. Below are three frieze drawers above a further bank of cupboards with fielded panel doors enclosing generous storage space.

The cupboard is richly patinated throughout with a wonderfully warm oak colour and pleasing surface character developed over many years. Decorative moulded cornice detailing, shaped panel mouldings and turned corner drops add further charm and character to the piece. A highly practical and decorative item of antique Welsh furniture, ideal for both traditional and contemporary interiors alike.

In good antique condition throughout with signs of age and use commensurate with age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches and small knocks. The oak has developed a lovely aged patina with variations in colour and wear consistent with years of use. There is evidence of historic woodworm, but this has long gone and been treated as a precaution. The cupboard remains structurally solid and sound, with the doors and drawers operating well. Overall, this is a highly decorative and substantial antique Welsh oak deuddarn cupboard with excellent presence.
