Our Guide To Autumn Interiors

12/10/2022

Nothing says Autumn like watching the sunset with a spiced pumpkin coffee, wearing your favourite woolly jumper. Yes, it’s that time of year again! The evenings are starting to draw in, the temperatures are cooling down, and we’re spending a lot more time indoors. So, it’s now the perfect time of year to start feeling cosy within your toasty home. Here’s our guide to Autumn interiors.

COLOURS

Adding a splash of colour to any room can instantly change the vibe and atmosphere. A warm environment is key to our Autumn interiors. We suggest mixing subtle yellows, rich oranges, and deep red tones – all the colours of Autumnal leaves. Mixing these colours with earthy brown tones will bring the outdoors in and create an Autumnal ambience.

There are many ways we can add a pop of colour to your Autumn interiors, one of the quickest ways is mixing and layering up our soft furnishings, such as throws, cushions and curtains. You could even offset the drabness of outside with a new lick of paint, creating a statement wall. Or even better, why not add some coloured furniture to the mix! Deep blues and moss greens are also colours that can be used to evoke a calming atmosphere, so check out some of our bold pieces here

TEXTURES

Varying the textures in our homes instantly creates a more welcoming and cosier feel to your Autumn interiors. We’re able to bring the outdoors in with natural materials and organic textures such as rustic woods like teak, and warm metallic textures like brass. Once again, soft furnishings like our throws, cushions and rugs are an easy way of adding texture to a space. Thick knits, faux furs and velvet are a few beautiful textures that can be used for your Autumn interiors. Another clever way of achieving the textured aesthetic, is by adding patterns. Botanical illustrations are ideal for Autumn interiors; include these prints in your fabrics or wallpaper. Also, whilst on the topic of floral, fresh flowers and plants within the home can also add an element of texture. So, fill your vases with some fresh cut foliage to boost that Autumn happiness.

FURNISHINGS

As we’ve suggested above, Autumn is the perfect time of year to opt for more natural materials to furnish your rooms. Furniture made from rustic woods instantly adds a warming charm and character to a space. Whether your looking to add something small like a teak stool, or something a bit more substantial, check out our rustic furnishings here.

As the days are getting shorter and the nights getting longer, our main priority should be our lighting. There’s nothing cosier than curling up with a blanket next to a roaring fire on a rainy day. So, if you have a fireplace, now is the perfect time to make it the main feature of your Autumn interiors. Use the fireplace as the primary light source, creating a snug atmosphere. If you don’t have a fireplace, keep your lighting low by using your floor and table lamps for a calmer feel. Quick tip, changing your bulbs to a warmer LED will instantly produce a cosier and more peaceful aura.

So, that concludes our guide to Autumn interiors. Who’s now looking forward to switching out their summer décor? We certainly can’t wait! The snug fabrics, soft lighting, and warm, rich colours of the fall leaves sound perfect.
