Sitting just in the southern boundary of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the village of Penderyn makes for a fantastic day out. Whether you want to enjoy a delicious meal in a traditional inn, explore the nature available around every corner, or visit one of the many tourist attractions surrounding the village, you won’t be disappointed.

PENDERYN DISTILLERY
If you’re planning a visit to Penderyn, we highly recommend you stop by Penderyn Distillery. The home of award-winning single malt whiskies and fantastic distillery tours, Penderyn Distillery attracts visitors from across the UK and beyond. So, if you’re keen to embark upon a journey through the history of single malt whisky-making in Wales and to explore the distilling process first-hand, make sure you work a tour into your itinerary!
SGWD YR EIRA WATERFALL
When visiting Penderyn, you shouldn’t miss a trip to Sgwd Yr Eira falls. Located on the Afon Hepste in a steep, rocky ravine, this waterfall is one of the most spectacular in the area. You can even walk behind the waterfall for a beautiful view of the blanket of rushing water—just a short thirty-minute walk from our chapel showroom.
MARIO’S ICE CREAM VAN
We know it’s a bold statement, but we consider Mario’s ice cream to be among the best in Wales. If you’re looking for delicious, classic ice cream, then this is not to be missed! There’s nothing better than enjoying a sunny day with a refreshing ice cream!
GARWNANT
When visiting on a sunny day, a trip to Garwnant is a must. On the edge of the Brecon Beacons, this family-friendly forest offers lovely woodland walking and biking trails. Garwnant offers walks to suit the whole family, from tree discovery trails to animal sculpture adventures. Why not stop by for a short walk after lunch?
RED LION INN
When it comes to eating out, the Red Lion Inn will not disappoint. This family-run, traditional 12th century drover’s inn offers delicious seasonal menus comprising the finest Welsh produce. Moreover, the flagstone floors, log fires, and traditional real ales and ciders make for a wonderful experience all around. We recommend taking a walk to the inn for your evening meal, where you can also enjoy the beautiful views from the hilltop where it resides.
ZIP WORLD TOWER

If you are feeling adventurous on your trip to Penderyn, Zip World Tower is the perfect addition to your journey. Nestled in the mountain range in Rhigos at the historic Tower Colliery site, they have both the world’s fastest seated zipline and the only coaster of its kind in Europe. Located close to our warehouse locations on the Hirwaun Industrial Estate, it is the perfect place to stop off and have a coffee on the viewing platform, or take the plunge yourself and view the Welsh landscape from 115 metres high!
PENDERYN MINERAL LINE

When visiting Penderyn the Mineral Line walk provides the perfect combination of beautiful scenery and history. This picturesque walk is just under two miles and takes you along the old quarry on the path that would have transported the limestone to Hirwaun Ironworks. It’s the perfect location to spot local wildlife as well as signs of the area’s industrial past. If you’d like to fully immerse yourself in the history of Penderyn and the surrounding area, there is an audio tour available following a worker from Hirwaun Ironworks!
LAMB HOTEL
Before you leave Penderyn, you should definitely stop by the Lamb Hotel for an unforgettable drink with the locals! At the heart of the community, you will get a real feel for the close-knit and friendly spirit of Penderyn.
