Unusual 17th Century Antique Oak Coffer

An unusual 17th century antique oak coffer. The antique oak coffer is of small proportions and could also be used as a coffee table. The coffer has a hinged lid with chip carved detail to the edges. The lid opens to reveal a spacious interior with a candle box to the left hand side. The coffer has a two panel front with a decorative shaped apron below. Raised on simple stile feet. Finished with a fresh coat of natural wax. An intriguing example with good colour and patina throughout.

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches and staining to the top, front, and sides (pictured). The antique oak coffer remains structurally intact and retains its original hinges. There are signs of old historic woodworm throughout – this is long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. A rather lovely piece of furniture.
