September at Penderyn Antiques
Another month has passed at what feels likes record speed. As always, we’ve been very busy sourcing, restoring and selling antique furniture to our wonderful customers throughout the UK.
It seems like only a couple of weeks ago, we were getting ready to get back to work after a short Christmas break, and now Christmas is just around the corner.
This past month has been a whirlwind with so much going on we thought we’d update you all with a new blog post. So here we go, September in a nutshell…
Relaunching Our Antique Showroom
After trading almost solely online during the lockdowns, it was so nice to finally be able to welcome customers, old and new, back to our antique showroom.
We allocated some time in August to give the showroom a new, refreshed look. We wanted the showroom to align with our online presence and not just be another dusty and crammed antique shop – instead, we wanted clean, fresh, and interesting. Leigh worked his magic and erected a tree-shaped structure in the centre of the showroom with pink and gold leaves – a physical representation of the Penderyn Antiques company logo.
Extra storage has been added to the upstairs of the chapel to display a larger amount of items. We have also created three ‘bays’ with small room-like set-ups to help drive imagination and offer some interior design inspiration.
Space is still somewhat limited at our antique showroom, so many of the items on our website are stored at our antique warehouse nearby. The warehouse is currently closed to the public, but we plan to expand and open a second warehouse for the public – watch this space…
New In: Antique Furniture
As always, there has been a huge amount of fantastic new stock added to the Penderyn Antiques website. Dan has been travelling far and wide to find the best pieces of antique furniture to offer our customers. At the start of September, Dan travelled south to Ardingly antique fair, where he purchased a variety of antique pine chests of drawers, along with some other items of antique furniture. After going through our restoration process at our workshop, these items were ready for photographing and made their way to the website ready for sale.
Antique Workshop
Leigh and the antique workshop team have been busy sympathetically restoring over 200 pieces of antique furniture in September.
They have also somehow found time to transform a stock of old, reclaimed wood into a selection of rustic wooden furniture. Remaining environmentally responsible and sustainable is important to us at Penderyn Antique, and we endeavour to recycle and reuse as many natural materials and items as possible – evidenced in our range of rustic wooden furniture. Old wood has a certain rustic charm that you just can’t get from newer materials.

Antique Pine
Lately, antique pine furniture, particularly antique pine chests of drawers, have risen in popularity. We believe this is due to the versatility and the rustic charm that pine often adds to a room. Luckily Dan has managed to find some wonderful examples and keep our antique showroom and website stocked.

Interior Experts; In Conversation
September has been an exciting month here at Penderyn Antiques. We like to learn and educate ourselves continually, and this month we’ve taken it a step further. Nia has conducted in-depth interviews with thirteen of the UK’s leading interior designers and experts, so not only can we improve our knowledge and broaden our minds – we can share this with you too.
Over the course of the month, Nia spoke to industry experts ranging from world-renowned interior designers and decorators, fellow antique dealers, authors of interior design and style books, and even a handful of people who have recently completed a renovation project.
With a heavy focus on sustainable design and how to effectively mix old and new, the interviews provide a wealth of knowledge from some of the best minds in the interior design world.
The interviews were a great success and also a lot of fun. Nia met some wonderful people in the process, and we look forward to working with many of them in the future.

Looking Ahead to October and November
October and November are always busy months at Penderyn Antiques. Many people use these months to re-style and re-design their homes and, as such, we find ourselves delivering antique furniture throughout the UK. This year we expect a particularly busy period again. We have sourced a large and eclectic range of antique furniture, along with some smaller decorative items that will be available in-store only.
With the weather taking a turn and temperatures dropping, our traditional 100% wool Welsh blankets are flying off the shelves.
Our antique showroom in Penderyn is open six days a week (closed on Sunday) – we would love to see you, so please, if you have the chance – pop in to see us!
