Georgian Antique Oak Bureau

A brilliant George I antique oak bureau. The Georgian oak and crossbanded bureau has a fall front that opens to reveal a red leather writing surface with a waterfall interior, consisting of three pigeon holes, eight drawers and a central storage compartment. There are also four secret compartments behind the bottom drawers on either side. Below the fall front is an arrangement of two long graduating drawers, each with decorative brass backplates and drop handles (top one being a dummy drawer). The Georgian antique oak bureau is raised on bracket feet. Complete with working lock and key.

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches, dents and minor stains to the top, front and sides (pictured), also shrinkage splits to the sides. There are patch repairs to the crossbanding in places (pictured), however this doesn’t affect the overall integrity of the product. The drawers and lock are slightly stiff, however still remain functional. There is also evidence of historic woodworm to the back (pictured), however this is now long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. The antique oak bureau remains structurally solid and sound. Complete with working lock and key. Overall, a good example of a Georgian bureau.
