George VI & Elizabeth II Coronation Stool

A well-presented pair of vintage coronation stools. The vintage coronation stool made of limed oak by ‘B. North & Sons of West Wycombe’ (maker’s mark to the underside) for the coronation of King George VI, paired with an Elizabeth II coronation stool made by ‘Glenister of High Wycombe’ (maker’s mark to the underneath). The vintage George VI coronation stool retains its original velvet upholstery, however the Elizabeth II coronation stool has a newly reupholstered royal blue velvet seat. Both stools have a gold trim, and are raised on four squared legs with chamfered edges. There are two metal carrying handles to the underside of one of the stools. An amazing pair and increasingly rare find of coronation stools in good condition.

In good vintage condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related wear and fading to the George VI fabric seat in places (pictured), but generally, remains good. The coronation stools are structurally solid and sound. Overall, a good, neat example.
