Edwardian Style Pedestal Desk and Armchair

A charming Edwardian-style oak pedestal desk paired with a coordinating armchair.

The Desk:

The pedestal desk features a rectangular moulded top inset with a black leather writing surface, adding both practicality and sophistication. Below the top, three pull-out extendable surfaces are included, with two side slides fitted with brass knobs and a central slide featuring a drop-down front. The desk is supported by twin pedestals, each housing six graduating drawers, all fitted with sturdy cup handles. Additionally, each pedestal has a small door on the reverse, opening to reveal convenient storage space. The desk rests on a sturdy plinth base and bears a maker’s mark on the underside. The desk separates into three sections for ease of transport.

The Armchair:

The matching oak armchair boasts a shaped back with a central lathe splat and open, elegantly shaped armrests. The solid seat is complemented by a comfortable cushion secured with straps. The chair is set on a swivel mechanism base for practicality, supported by four shaped, out-swept oak legs, enhancing its classic appeal.

This beautifully matched combination of desk and armchair exudes character and charm, showcasing excellent craftsmanship and functional design. Perfect for adding a touch of Edwardian elegance to any office or study.

In good vintage condition overall, with signs of age and use consistent with its history. The desk and chair exhibit surface wear, including age-related marks and scratches throughout the pieces.

The desk shows some scratches and marks to the leather writing surface, as well as on the wooden top and sides (all pictured). There is also some splitting to one of the drawers (pictured), but this does not impact functionality.

The armchair has scratches to the arms and sides, adding character to the piece (pictured). Despite these imperfections, both items remain structurally sound and functional, retaining their charm and authenticity.

A wonderful example of an Edwardian-style set, perfect for a traditional or vintage-inspired office setting.
