Antique Georgian Welsh Oak Straight Front Chest of Drawers

A handsome Georgian Welsh oak chest of drawers with a wonderfully warm colour and the rich patina that comes only with age. The front features inlaid detail running along the top, above an arrangement of three small drawers over four graduated drawers. All drawers have turned wooden knobs, with some retaining brass escutcheons. Very pleasing proportions, and a practical piece that demonstrates the craftsmanship of Welsh country furniture of the period.

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks and scratches throughout the piece. Age related shrinkage to the planks to the top and sides, but the piece remains structurally solid and sound with all drawers running smoothly. The chest has missing escutcheons and key to central drawer is not functioning but acts as a handle. Historic repair to the back right top of the piece. Evidence of historic woodworm, mainly to drawer linings but this is long gone and treated as a precaution. Overall a handsome example.
