A beautiful antique early 17th century oak chest of drawers. The oak chest of drawers has an arrangement of two short over three long drawers with geometric block moulded detail. Each drawer has two pear drop handles, raised on bun feet. This chest has a distinguished provenance, having been sold at a Christie’s South Kensington auction on Wednesday, January 27, 1999, as lot 733, with an estimated value of £1200 – £1800, ultimately selling for £3450 plus commission.

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches and fading to the top, sides and back. There is some shrinkage to the top and sides (pictured) as well as wear to the top left drawer (pictured), however, this does not affect the overall integrity of the piece. The drawers are solid oak, making them very solid and sound. A lovely example of an antique early 17th century oak chest of drawers.
