Antique 18th Century Oak Dresser Base

A handsome 18th century oak dresser base of good proportions. The piece has a charming, honest appearance, with three drawers fitted with later handles and raised on turned front legs and square rear supports united by side stretchers. The top is formed of two wide planks with a lovely depth of colour and patina that only comes with age. A useful and handsomely proportioned piece.

The 18th-century dresser base is in good antique condition overall, displaying the expected signs of age and use. The surface shows general wear, with age-related marks and scratches throughout. The drawer fronts are slightly warped with, and the top has a gentle undulation consistent with age . However this does not detract from the overall appeal or practicality of the piece. There is some loss to the feet, particularly at the back. Evidence of historic woodworm is visible to the rear, which has been treated as a precaution. There is also a small area of loss to the back edge of the top, as illustrated in the photographs. Overall a great example.
