Antique Mahogany Bow Front Chest of Drawers

A handsome and generously proportioned Victorian Scottish mahogany chest of drawers, dating from the mid-19th century. The chest features a well-figured top with rounded front corners, above an arrangement of two short over three full-width drawers, all displaying attractive flame mahogany veneer. Bold, columns flank the drawer fronts, adding architectural interest, while the chest stands firmly on turned bun feet. The piece retains its original turned wooden knobs with mother-of-pearl inlay, lending a touch of elegance and period charm.

In good antique condition overall, with expected signs of age and use. The piece shows surface wear throughout, including age-related marks and scratches. There is some missing veneer and scratches to the side. Notable losses include the lining inside the drawers and to the top back edge of the piece. Despite these signs of wear, all the drawers run smoothly and the antique mahogany bow-front chest of drawers remain solid and sound.
