19th Century Smoker’s Bow Chair or Captain’s Armchair

A charming antique ash and elm smoker’s bow chair or captain’s chair. The antique smoker’s bow chair has a shaped back and arms raised on turned spindle upright supports. The antique armchair has a solid elm seat, raised on four out swept turned legs with double ‘H’ spindle stretcher supports. A rather pleasing example, with beautiful colour and grain throughout.

In excellent antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks and scratches to the seat (pictured), and fading to the arms (pictured). The antique smoker’s bow chair remains structurally solid and sound, with good tight joints. Overall, a brilliant example of its kind.
