18th Century Oak Mule Chest

A well-proportioned 18th century antique oak mule chest with three plank lid, which opens to reveal generous storage. The front and sides are panelled and to the base are two fitted drawers, each fitted with decorative brass lion drawer handles. Raised on stile feet. Also, the hinges are quite unusual and are being made from both iron and wood. In addition, there is a simple scratch carved engraving to the front of the drawers.

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age and wear. General surface wear throughout including some marks in places, but overall, good. Structurally sound. Some minor evidence of old historic wood worm to the back – this is long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. The hinges are later replacements and are an unusual mix of iron and wood (pictured). Ply drawer bottom replacement to one drawer. A good piece. Please take time to carefully look at all the photos as they form part of the description and condition report of this item.
