18th Century Oak and Elm Settle

A superb antique 18th century oak and elm settle. The high back settle has a five panel backrest and shaped open arms. The two plank elm seat has wonderful colour and grain pattern and is raised on four bobbin turned upright supports with straight worn stretchers. The stretchers have good authentic wear where people have placed their feet for the last 200 years. A wonderfully pleasing piece of furniture.

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches, and staining to the backrest and seat (pictured). The 18th century oak and elm settle is quite worn in places with extensive evidence of old historic woodworm – this is long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. Although the settle has quite some wear, it remains structurally sound. The settle has good colour throughout and is, overall, a rather wonderful piece of furniture.
