Antique Oak Six Plank Chest

An attractive antique oak plank chest. The chest features a hinged lid opening to a spacious interior, with a small internal lidded compartment to one side. The front retains its original iron lock plate, adding to its period character. Constructed in solid oak using traditional plank construction, the piece displays a deep colour and wonderful patina developed over time. A highly characterful piece of early furniture, ideal for storage or as a statement item.

In good antique condition throughout with heavy signs of age. There is surface wear including age-related marks, knocks, splits and scratches consistent with its age and use. There is evidence of historic woodworm, as to be expected with a piece of this age but this has long gone and been treated as a precaution. There are historic repairs and natural movement, but the chest remains structurally solid and sound. Overall, a lovely example.

Our experienced carpenter thoroughly inspects, repairs, and restores each item in our collection to ensure it is fully prepared for use in your home.
